FAQs

What can I be coached on?

It would be easier to say what you can’t be coached on!

To help, here’s a list of some of the coaching I’ve helped previous clients with:

  • Career changes, adapting to new roles and starting up a new business

  • Confidence, imposter syndrome and anxiety

  • Negative feelings and emotions such as low self-esteem, feeling over-whelmed and procrastination

  • Health and well-being goals

  • Managing and having difficult conversations

  • Adapting to changes in the family such as children leaving home, changes to personal relationships and bereavement

  • Letting go of limiting beliefs, silencing the inner critic and creating a more positive outlook

  • Communication challenges

How many coaching sessions will I need?

This very much depends on what problem or goal you want to change and how long the change will take to happen.

Generally it will be a minimum of 3 sessions, but often more.

Sometimes when coaching, something you might not have been aware of could ‘pop up’ and you may choose to talk about this as well. This will need more sessions.

The frequency of the sessions will also be dependent on what the goal or problem is. Some changes are quick to happen others may take a while.

Before we start coaching, we will talk about what you want to achieve, when you want to achieve it and what resources you have to make it happen. This will form our Coaching Agreement and include suggested timings and costs which we’ll regularly check in with.

Who do you coach?

I am a firm believer of only coaching those who will benefit from my experience, skills and expertise.

I coach people who are experiencing change whether it’s through choice, circumstances or feel it’s imposed on them. I help to transition from the present to the future desires.

I don’t coach those under 18 years old, as there are other coaches who have the appropriate experience and qualifications for this age group. However I can help those supporting this age group such as parents or carers.

If, during our journey, something ‘comes up’ which requires different assistance, we will have the discussion on the next steps.

Coaching is all about you being the best version of yourself and this will be achieved by working with the right person for you and your needs.

FAQs

I’m nervous about making the first step.

I understand.

It can be daunting to reach out, speak with a stranger and embark on changing what you’re familiar with and which you may be scared of letting go of.

It can be hard knowing what it is that needs to be different, you just know something does.

But just imagine that by saying hello to me and we talk and ‘click’ and find that I can help you change the behaviour, the habit and improve your way of being.

Imagine that by working together you become more confident to take the steps forward to achieve your goal and to be the person you know you are and want to be.

Imagine that just by taking that step in 2 coaching by getting in touch and saying hello, could change your life and help you to become your version of you.

Imagine just saying to yourself, why not? And the answer being, yes, why not?

How much will it cost me?

I work with both individuals who are self-funding and organisations who want to support and finance their employees through times of change.

The cost will depend on the number of sessions needed and how long the sessions are.

Our first 30 minute conversation is free of charge and there’s no obligation.

With organisations it’s important to set clear boundaries and expectations and will require more time for this discussion.

When we talk, we’ll agree together the goal, the outcome, the duration, the number of sessions and the payment options.

Where do we meet?

I use Zoom meetings or Whatsapp to coach.

Having had experience of working with people in person and via technology it’s allowed me the benefit of understanding what techniques work best with the different channels and allows me to coach anyone, anywhere (within reason!).

If you’re local to me and would prefer a face to face meeting, we can discuss location options that would be suitable for us both.

Currently, I don’t have a premises for clients to visit.

FAQs

Is Life Coaching different to other therapies?

Coaching isn’t a therapy, it focusses on helping you to access all your resources to help you in your present, (where you are now) and your future (where you want to be).

In Coaching we believe that you have all the resources you need, that you are the expert on you and that you can achieve whatever you want.

As your coach I will guide you to access these resources and help you to apply them.

Sometimes, you may feel you would benefit from some mentoring too and if it’s something I have the experience in, I’m happy to agree this with you.

As with many occupations Coaches can specialise in specific types of coaching. As a Life Coach I can assist with most areas of life but if I feel you need more specific help I will advise you.

Therapies such as Counselling or Psychiatry have a different range of expertise and skills. These therapies are particularly beneficial for you if you have an addiction, suffering abuse or certain mental health conditions for instance.

Please note I’m not qualified in these areas.

How do I prepare for my coaching session?

For you to get the most out of your coaching session, it’s worth spending a bit of time thinking about what you want to achieve.

You’ll already have an idea because you’re already considering coaching.

Here’s some helpful questions to ask yourself?

  • What would you like to achieve?

  • What’s your goal?

  • What do you want to change?

  • What problem do you need help with?

  • Is there a time you want to achieve it by?

  • What do you feel is stopping you i.e. fear, lack of confidence, self doubt, lack of skills, overwhelm, procrastination, dilemma, external influences etc

Before the session itself:

  • Find a place where you can speak freely, openly and honestly

  • Have some water with you, it’s surprising how thirsty you’ll get!

  • Be comfortable in what you’re wearing and also where you’re seated

  • Have your technology set up and ready to go:

    • Position your screen so that I can clearly see you

    • Check your Zoom settings especially the audio

    • Have your equipment charged

  • Have a pen and some paper available to make notes or doodle!

How will I know coaching is working for me?

Coaching isn’t a quick fix, it’s something that you engage with, work with and take actions for you to achieve your goals.

When you leave the coaching sessions the change doesn’t stop. You will have agreed actions to do, be aware and notice when things are or aren’t working for you.

You may feel the change happening, notice that you’re getting closer to achieving your goals, feel differently about yourself and others and/or notice your habits and behaviours are changing.

You will naturally become more self aware, curious and have more positive thoughts and beliefs about yourself.

How will you know coaching is working for you? You’ll know!
